A bit self-centered, a bit paranoid, to think the song was written only about you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15527783.post-22655120612607095362010-01-19T21:28:57.460-08:002010-01-19T21:28:57.460-08:00Can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek or not. ...Can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek or not. Maybe. A little. Critiquing individual performances or specific choices is part of your job. Being critical of individuals is not what a review should be about. To state that you are going to be critical of individuals, require that they wait for two days to learn who is being criticized and then back-handedly ask for forgiveness by apologizing for it in advance is not only unprofessional but borderline cruel.

Also, if one listens to it, "that one song" is actually critical of actors, directors, and producers who form their opinion of critics based on a good or bad review. Even if it weren't, to take it personally (as if the Civic Theatre actors were directing it at you rather than performing the song in character) is really what goes a bit far.

If this posting is merely a stunt to increase anticipation for your review, it is, as with your other stunts (e.g., Mamet quote), in very poor taste.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
