  1. Bobo, I'm excited to see what Abbey does with this show. My question for you, I hsve to say, has nothing to do with Abbey directing, I just didn't know where else to ask it.

Do you find individual actors' performances are stronger or weaker depending on who is directoring? Have you seen someone give an amazing performance under one diretor in a show or two and then not work with that director again and never achieve that level of quality again? You see the question? I'm not looking to damn anyone or proclaim someone the greatest firector EVER, just wondering.

  2. Sorry, I just have no comment. Haven't thought about it, haven't thought in those terms. Each show on its own merits -- really. "So-in-so's directing, so it'll be a great show" ... lots of times, not always, but usually. But the same actor in a comedy, a drama, a musical, an absurdist fantasy -- apples and oranges. That's why awards (Spokies included) are SO subjective. Personally, I usually value the nominations more than the awards -- the noms _probably_ isolate _most_ of the better performances (though not necessarily), but choosing one out of a half-dozen performances -- that will ALWAYS lead to diff's of opinion.
