*Rent* at NorthTown, Sept. 24-28

*Rent* closes on Broadway tomorrow
But you'll be able to see it in Spokane late this month.

In long-anticipated move parallel to the last two years' live broadcasts of Met Opera productions, the final performance of *Rent* will be "cinecast" at locations all over the nation.
During the performance, Sony's limited-engagement hi-def broadcast will wander backstage and into the wings.
No information yet on ticket prices.

Regal NorthTown Mall 12, Division and Wellesley
Wed.-Thurs., Sept. 24-25, at 7 pm and
Sat.-Sun., Sept. 27-28, at noon

Some stats on *Rent*: seventh-longest-running show in history; 5,140 performances; earned $625 million (including tours and 200 worldwide productions); unanimous vote of the Pulitzer committee; four Tonys.

The Met has revolutionized the opera world by (starting their third season now) simulcasting performances to movie theaters all over the country; now La Scala and a couple other opera companies are following suit.
Me, I'd like to see straight plays like August: Osage County "cinecast" in a similar way.
But Bobo wants to make an appeal to the Spokane theater community: You may, like me, be a little Rent'ed out (listened to the cast album repeatedly and followed along in the book, watched the Jonathan Larsen documentary, saw the version that toured through here about four years ago, saw the not-as-bad-as-advertised-but-still-lacking movie, etc.)
BUT: If we attend this, more will follow. The likelihood is for Broadway musicals and not straight plays, but anything would be appreciated. If *Company* went to PBS' Great Performances a couple of seasons ago, it would have gone to the big screen like this if this telecast system had been in place then.
But Regal won't continue without butts in seats. So seat your butts.
