The Tonys: Making speeches and scenes
At the Tonys, why do mobs of producers get up onstage to accept the Best Play awards but not the playwrights? And why do they produce big musical numbers but not scenes from non-musical plays? Some remarks and quotes from Michael Riedel.

i agree about the authors- but it would be a disaster to do scenes from plays on the tonys. they'd be way too forced/inauthentic.
DId they try this at one point?
I vaguely remember seeing a snippet of 'Art' on some show that I assume was the Tony's?
