That may have something to do with the fact that Spokane is the 106th largest metro area in the country (though after next year's census, we'll move up somewhere into the mid-80s, since it'll be the greater Spokane-Coeur d'Alene MSA).
At first glance, Bobo was a little surprised by the positions on the list of L.A., Nashville and Charleston.
More important: How was this list compiled? Why these 30 cities? Travel and Leisure's methodology seems a bit suspect.
Still, few would dispute that in general, Phoenix and Honolulu are not the theater towns that, say, the Twin Cities are.
Rankings like these, arbitrary as they may be, can't be completely dismissed, if only to remind provincial minds that there's a whole lot of theater out there — much more than any one city can supply, particularly a mid-size one on the edge of a state that's on the edge of the country.
Though really, the only theater that matters is the one you're attending tonight.
