Since they're running an ad in The Inlander's Lion King insert next Thursday, I guess they're announcing it officially (no dates as yet):
A Chorus Line
Pippin
The King and I
Peter Pan
sexy, political, spectacular, child-like ... a good season, one to look forward to
Does anyone but me think both Pippin and Chorus Line are very dated?
ReplyDeleteWell, the other two shows are even older.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll reveal my ignorance and say that I regret missing the Gonzaga Pippin of two (?) years ago, and that I have never actually seen either Pippin or Chorus LIne onstage -- so they're new to me. (I moved to Spokane in '90.)
The Civic did Pippin in '85 and 2000; Chorus Line, in '87.
CdA Summer Theater has done
The King and I '69 '78 '85 '91
Peter Pan never (?)
Pippin '79
Chorus Line '86 '93
Civic did Pippin in 2000 or 2001
ReplyDeleteTroy Nickerson directed it was a great show Jean Hardie was in it as well I think and Andy Start starred.
Pippin did poorly at Civic's box office but I personally enjoyed it a great deal. Chorus Line is old but not especialy dated. In my mind's eye I see all these horrible 80's do's and leg warmers but the actual content of the story is pretty timeless. Love the music. My only concern is that "dance" shows at CDA summer theatre are always compomised by the short rehearsal period. I remember being terribly disappointed in Will Roger's Follies, though I loved Patrick Treadway in it, as always.
